Vivienne Westwood, S/S 2005 Asymmetrical Zipped Long-sleeve

Vivienne Westwood a designer and person who shaped fashion since beginning in the late 70s under the brand name ‘Seditionaires’, which was sold out of her Kings Road store with her partner at the time Malcolm McLaren. Her designs specialised in clothing that defined the look of the punk movement. Bondage was a key theme from the beginning snd still runs through to the current day, using provocative straps and zips in unconventional ways to evoke emotion or abrasion.

An intricate menswear design for her S/S 2005 collection, featuring a wide range of details across the long sleeve including an asymmetrical zipper down the front with a contrasting back panel, 3 zippers on each arm backed with a mesh lining and a twisted neck hem. Further details include panelling down each side with grey inserts offering an interesting twisted shape (see the last slide for runway image).
