Fall 2001 marked Simons’s return to fashion after a one-year sabbatical. In March of 2000, Simons was teaching at a design school in Vienna and consulting for a Belgian shipping magnate on his art collection. A new manufacturer allowed for a smaller team. The result was Fall 2001’s hyper-stylised collection. Inspired by the flea markets in Vienna, Raf completely covered his models in clothing with oversized garments and Afghan style shawls to shield from the cold.
Here we see a great example of a piece which encapsulates the idea of Riot Riot Riot!. A plain khaki green crewneck with raglan sleeves and heavy distressing throughout.
