Raf Simons, A/W 1999-2000 Elasticated Wide Fit Trousers

For his A/W 1999-2000 collection, the presentation opened with a group of boys carrying black flags with ‘DISORDER‘, ‘INCUBATION‘ and ‘ISOLATION‘ written on them, referring to songs by the British band Joy Division, as well as the title of the collection. The procession split to reveal models with black, sharply delineated hairdos, wearing black, three-quarter-length capes: asymmetrical, in classic tailoring or circular patterns.

Here we have a signature trouser from Raf, a super-wide silhouette designed to drape and flow when in movement. An elastic waist allows the wearer ease of use. Finally, made out a wool-cotton blend designed for comfort. These trousers were seen presented in the show in multiple materials and were since seen in numerous seasons to follow.
