Raf Simons, A/W 06-07 Quarter-zip Alien Hood

Simons held his Fall 2006 Collection on the rooftop of La Défense, President Mitterand's monument to Parisian modernity. Volume was key to this collection. After experimenting with trousers cut samurai-large in previous collections, here, all the pants were cigarette-slim and the emphasis was up top, with the neck a particular focus for funnel collars or hoods that massed around the throat. This had the effect of framing his young models' faces, romantically exalting their youth.

This particle piece from the collection is constructed in thick cotton with the most notable features being an alien-like funnel hood which can be extended well beyond the wearers face complemented by a double quarter zip, which allows for multiple shapes to be achieved with the hood. When down the hood creates a funnel neck shape and when up creating a storm hood protruding forward.
