Mandarina Duck, 2000s Exowear Laser-cut Waterproof Paper Jacket

Mandarina Duck is an Italian manufacturer and sales company for luggage, clothing and accessories launched in 1977 by Paolo Trento and Pietro Mannato. With a huge emphasis on practical and technical materials or design, each item seemed to contain endearing details almost to the point where they could be missed. Now known for their luggage, the clothing has taken a step back but their design still lives on and finds themselves still ahead what we see today.

Here we have a great example of the brand's attention to detail on material choice, using a fabric which offers a structured and fully waterproof exo shell, part of their Exowear designs. Two velcro flaps cut into the fabric to close the jacket, the use of minimal panelling, singular pocket, mock neck and raw hems gives a dystopian look.
