Maison Martin Margiela, S/S 2002 Waxed Cotton Moto Jacket
The now infamous S/S 2002 Men's collection from Martin is regarded as one of the best for his men's line, with pieces such as the graffiti GATs, Black and White Leather Moto Jackets and Denim 3-Piece Suit. We saw a focus on tailoring and some very ironic humour from Martin, especially in the film produced for the collection where models were street cast and mock interviewed on the streets of Paris about what’s items they are wearing.
The Moto Jacket has grown to become one of Martin Margiela’s most recognisable menswear designs, cropping up in different fabrics and collections to follow the S/S 2002 collection. This model is constructed in lightweight waxed cotton material, perfect for the in-between seasons. Featuring eye-catching thick MRS zippers on each chest pocket and lower pockets, a Moto style button neck closure and adjustable cuff detail. Finishing off the jacket we see leather cross-stitch detailing on each shoulder and elbow. A timeless design from Martin that would find its place nicely in any wardrobe.
