Maison Martin Margiela, Fall 2006 Reconstructed Blazer
For his Fall 2006 Martin coincidentally too a similar approach for referencing as Chalayan, even though showing in another city, they both put on a show of clothes derived from home furnishings. Using materials like the cretonne slipcovers of sofas, seventies leather chairs, pieces of a rug, curtains, and car seats (complete with seat belts). Martin did what he does best and made clothed out of unconventional things.
Constructed out of grey wool, the blazer showcases the inner workings of what it took to put it together, on the outside. However, these markings are purposefully uneven and mismatched, almost as if the seamstress mas made constant mistakes across the piece. Flat buttons are used for the closure and wrist detail to finish.
