Maison Martin Margiela, A/W 1994-1995 Reproduction of a Series of Old Garment “Man’s Overcoat”

The collection took place on September the 7th 1994, in nine different stores located around the world; Paris, Milan, London, Vienna, New York and Tokyo. This was executed across the period of an entire day, models were seen to have silver eye masks place crudely across their faces. In addition the this, all models were not considered professional at the time but were a selection of Martin’s clients and friends.

The majority of the garments shown are examples of clothing reproduced from varying periods, stamped with their origin and époque. All items shown were seen to be clothing which had been directly inspired by vintage garments and items from a doll's wardrobe, with all details and disproportions reproduced in the enlargement. A highly regarded collection in the Margiela universe for its attention to detail and original concept.

Here we have a wonderful “Mans Overcoat” reproduced in a size more appropriate for women, the design is taken from a coat at the (end of the 1960s), constructed out of Wool outer anf Polymide Nylon lining with padded shoulders and chesterfield shape.
