Maison Martin Margiela, A/W 01-02 Artisanal Foldout Look-book

Martin Margiela was fantastic at communicating through clothes, in addition to this, the house also considered how they would present them to the public eye, which leads to highly effective range concepts. Using multiple mediums such as shows, photographs and most notably physical look-books. While Martin was at the helm customers and clients were able to sign up for a newsletter that allowed them access to look-books in very small quantities. Especially for the men's line, whereby small A5 foldout books containing each look from the season with all items described alongside.

Here we have the specific fold-out look-book for Martin’s A/W 01–02 collection, which has been assembled artisanally by hand. Using actual photo cards and a woven cotton material to fix the images on, creating a corrugated assembly. The book contains a total of 17 full looks from the Line 10 and Line 0, with a description of each look breaking down each piece. All photography by Jaques Habbah, a long time collaborator with Martin.
