John Richmond, Circa 1990 Moto Bomber Jacket with Leather Detail

John Richmond is an Englishman born in Manchester, who eventually after graduating from Kingston University, in the early 80s, relocated to Milan producing his garments in Italy whilst still keeping some production at home in the UK and began to start working on his collections under his own name. John soon became a master of his craft known for mixing biker chic, street smarts and rock music with the classic elements of haute couture to create his own unique style. Setting himself apart from the ‘edgy’ designers at the time by keeping true to his attention to detail. The fusion of “street chic” formed a fundamental part of the label’s philosophy that is summed up in the brand’s slogan “Destroy, Disorientate, Disorder.”

Here we have a fine example of Richmond's ability to fuse his inspirations, using a classic Moto bomber jacket shape but implementing key details such as the leather panel which runs up the middle front and over the shoulders. We also see two asymmetrical pockets on the front with leather details at each end, a buttoned waist flap, zipped cuffs and a Moto style collar. The attention to detail on this piece is incredible with RiRi hardware, iridescent lining and a fine fabric choice.
