Issey Miyake, A/W 2000-01 Multi Zipped Nylon Cable Knit Sweater
For his A/W 2000 collection, Miyake really dived into the technical aspect of the garments by presenting a wide range of wearable tech and honing in on the use of technical fabrics. Models were seen to pull jackets out of body bags, pockets stuffed full of tech which was used as props in the show and businessmen wearing tailored jackets lined fully with pockets. Plenty of movement was demonstrated on the runway to showcase the design functionality of the garments and clearly showed off Issey’s personal vision for the pieces.
Here we have an incredibly well-made piece constructed in stretchy woven nylon knit, offering a lightweight but thick feel. The sweater has a dual zip closure leading up to a mock neck construction, with several MA-1 style mesh-lined pockets across the piece, one on the lower right side and one on each arm. Further details included rubber pull tabs on most of the zipper hardware with nylon trim running along the tracks of each zipper.
