Helmut Lang, S/S 2003 Classic Vintage Denim with Rubber Tape Applications

Jeans are an eponymous part of Helmut Lang’s work, featuring on his runways shows as a part of his successful jeans line, creating innovative designs which pushed denim into a much more conceptual and collectable realm for fashion.

This pair here from the S/S 2003 collection is one of his most obscure but pleasing to view, constructed out of his ‘Classic’ fit vintage denim, made to look as if worn extensively with fading and distressing across the jeans. The most notable details seen is the use of asymmetrical rubber tape applications placed at the top and lower right side, offering a 3 Dimensional shape to the leg and hip. This blocking effect seen on the jeans is in line with Lang’s minimalist approach and similar details have been seen across his work. The jeans are finished with button closure and branded brass hardware.
