Helmut Lang, S/S20013-Pocket Brushed Cotton Chore Jacket
For his SS 2001 collection, Helmut put a group of looks that were pure to the brand: functional, urban and modern. But then, gradually, a wave of sexual innuendo began to escalate. With a range of bondage-style top and punched leather dresses, coats and trousers featured in sections. The lightness of the ‘outerwear’ pieces aligned perfectly with the colour choices and Azzedine Alaïa referencing brought sexiness with Lang’s taste as always.
Constructed out of an extremely soft brushed cotton, this jacket is based on a classic chore style popular, usually specifically designed for work and crafted from heavy twill, denim, or canvas fabric, Helmut brought it to us in a much more luxurious fabric. Changing key detailing slightly by adding flaps to the pockets, a fake button hole on the lapel and offering a slimmer cut in the shoulder.
