Helmut Lang, S/S 2000 Pillow Neck Trench Coat

For Helmut Lang’s S/S 2000 collection there was a huge focus on simple shapes and a wide range of translucent fabrics, creating an emphasis on lightness. On the contrary to this, this year however the Jeans label took a different angle. Referencing the A/W 1999 collection’s details, creating a cutting edge streetwear selection and although no shown in the presentation the garments produced are still highly sort after.

Constructed in a technical cotton/polymaide and polyurethane blend which gives the parka a luxuirous feel and look, whilst offering practicality. The most prominent feature on the parka includes the distinctive neck rest collar (inspired by the shape of travel pillows), concealing a functional hood and fully removable. Further down the parka we see two large zipped pocket on either side and a button closure down the middle. Moving on to the inside of the piece we see a total of four ‘bondage’ straps all functioning together as a way to wear the parka off the wearers back. Finally, zipped cuffs and a tailored vent at the back finish off the piece.
