Helmut Lang, S/S
1998 Translucent Ripstop Nylon Blouson
The S/S 1998 collection emphasises on lightness and fabric experimentation, playing to those themes this version of the classic zipped blouson is constructed in a translucent nylon with a micro-ripstop weave. The fabric's semi-sheer appearance creates a wonderful look on the wearer's body, while its light weight and crisp texture lend an avant-garde edge that pleasantly complements its minimalist design. Holding its shape while on the body we really get a good look at Lang’s Avant-garde streetwear.
Featuring a pointed collar with the signature chest pocket this time being placed on the inside out the jacket easily seen from the outside due to the fabric. The waist detailing features technical panelling with a double layered horizontal panel, while a drawstring around the hem adds simple but effective detail. The interior is expertly finished with french and flat fell seams for increased durability. Finally the cuffs are finished with synched detailing and a polished silver zipper graces the centre closure of the jacket. The piece was produced during Helmut Lang's now famous partnership with GTR (GRUPPO TESSILE RIUNITO), whereby fabric production and consideration was arguably at it’s peak for the brand.
