Helmut Lang
S/S 1998, Back Stripe Military Shirt

1998 was a very important year for Helmut Lang. The company was seen to relocate its offices from Vienna to Manhattan, making it the first fashion house to change continent, while the runway presentations made the move from Paris to New York.

This shirt is part of the Helmut Lang Jeans line, and is a slightly more hard-wearing take on the mainline tailor made shirts. The fabric is high quality cotton twill that has been washed and slightly distressed to give it a vintage finish. Mother of Pearl buttons grace the front of the shirt alongside 1 chest pocket and a point collar. The back features box pleats with a contrasting white military inspired stripe.
