Helmut Lang, S/SS 1997 Stripe Vest

After launching his jeans label the year before Helmut Lang went on to continue to present this side of the brand in the Spring Summer 1997 collection following. Helmut went on to focus on refining his personal vision with the reinstatement of pieces seen in previous collections in new fabrics and slight detail modifications. The minimal stripe detail he is known for was evident across many of the looks in the show alongside chiffon dress, tailoring and nylon trims gave a sporty edge to the otherwise sober fitted garments.

Here we see a great example of his work with minimalism and themes of modernity with a form fitted button down vest. Made out of a cotton nylon stretch fabric allowing the garment to fit the wearer snug with a subtle satin stripe which graces the waistline of the vest breaking up an otherwise basic garment. A great layering piece or worn alone.
