Helmut Lang, S/S 1996 Orange MA-1 Moto Jacket

For his S/S 1996 collection, Lang showed us a full embrace of what he was known best for; minimalism. Stripping back garments to their most simplistic form whilst focusing in on the attention to detail down to the finest degree. Featuring a range of work uniform outfits with heavy military references throughout. The classic MA-1 blouson is a prime example of Helmut finest work and shows how he revisited styles and details to perfect them over time.

Here we see a fusion of two jacket styles, taking a classic MA-1 military bomber and a Moto jacket creating a stripped back design. Constructed in a rusty orange polyamide exterior, with khaki green stitching and hardware trimming. Featuring a motorcycle slim cropped fit, an MA-1 style pocket is placed on the left chest with two lower zip pockets on the front. Also featuring a mock neck construction, zipped sleeves and one inside popper pocket. Produced by GTR group, a substantially better construction and material from this manufacturing period for the brand.
