Helmut Lang, S/S 1996
Khaki Green Nylon Mesh Button-up Shirt

For his S/S 1996 collection, Lang showed us a full embrace of what he was known best for; minimalism. Stripping back garments to their most simplistic form whilst focusing on the attention to detail down to the finest degree. Featuring a range of work uniform outfits with heavy military references throughout. The classic Trench Coat is a prime example of Helmut’s ability to take a staple piece and make minor but highly impactful changes to a garment.

A wonderfully constructed short-sleeve button-up shirt, in one of the rarer designs from Helmut’s mainline menswear. Constructed out of a nylon/polyamide blend mesh which offers a structured and slim. The subtle transparency allows for a sophisticated but revealing look for the wearer. Subtle but effective detailing includes a pointed collar, extended sleeves, parallel back box pleats and a reversed faced hem on the button closure. Finally, tonal buttons are used for the closure and a singular left chest pocket graces the front of the shirt.
