Helmut Lang,  S/S 1996 Cropped M65 Field Parka

For his S/S 1996 collection, Lang showed us a full embrace of what he was known best for; minimalism. Stripping back garments to their most simplistic form whilst focusing on the attention to detail down to the finest degree. Featuring a range of work uniform outfits with heavy military references throughout. The M65 Parka is a prime example of Helmut’s finest work and shows how he revisited styles to perfect them over time. First introduced in the early 1990s.

This particular variation is constructed in brushed cotton, soft to the touch and versatile due to its lightweight qualities. Features include details of a stripped back M65 parka whereby only two angled pockets are placed on the upper, compared to the usual four seen on a regular M65. The minimalist design runs across the entire piece with a discreet adjustable string hidden on the inner back to adjust the fit. The silhouette is boxy and cropped, finished off with beautiful brown wooden buttons on each pocket and down the central hidden closure.
