Helmut Lang, S/S 1996 Constrast Collar Translucent Nylon Blouson

For his S/S 1996 collection, Lang showed us a full embrace of what he was known best for; minimalism. Stripping back garments to their most simplistic form whilst focusing on the attention to detail down to the finest degree. Featuring a range of work uniform outfits with heavy military references throughout. The classic Trench Coat is a prime example of Helmut’s ability to take a staple piece and make minor but highly impactful changes to a garment.

Here we have an exemplary example of the attention to detail and minimal design techniques used by Lang, constructed in a lightweight blue translucent nylon, the overall piece has an extemely lightweight feel. Most notably, the collar features a contrasting white detail around the entire folded edge. Further details include a zipped and two lower pocket which can been seen from the outside.
