Helmut Lang, S/S 1996 Constrast Collar Nylon Button-up Shirt
For his S/S 1996 collection, Lang showed us a full embrace of what he was known best for; minimalism. Stripping back garments to their most simplistic form whilst focusing on the attention to detail down to the finest degree. Featuring a range of work uniform outfits with heavy military references throughout. The classic Trench Coat is a prime example of Helmut’s ability to take a staple piece and make minor but highly impactful changes to a garment.
Here we have a fantastic take on Helmuts classic button-up design, coming in soft navy nylon and polyamide blend featuring the black contrast collar detail, which has become a synonymous design feature with Helmuts work. Finished off with a boxy shape, pearlised buttons, single chest pocket and back pleats.
