For his S/S 1996 collection, Lang showed us a full embrace of what he was known best for; minimalism. Stripping back garments to their most simplistic form whilst focusing on the attention to detail down to the finest degree. Featuring a range of work uniform outfits with heavy military references throughout. The classic Trench Coat is a prime example of Helmut’s ability to take a staple piece and make minor but highly impactful changes to a garment.
Here we have an exquisite example of the tailoring from a slightly earlier collection, Helmut was mainly known early on for the attention to detail in his tailoring. Constructed out of soft olive green wool, the blazer features a boxy shape, three-button closure, four-button cuffs, three pockets placed on the front with four inner pockets. Finally, the blazer is finished with a silky cupro lining which feels beautiful when worn.
