Helmut Lang, F/W 2001 Faux Leopard Fur Coat

Helmut Lang’s Fall Winter 2001 show consisted of his trademark classic-cut slim trousers, moulded tops and functionally tailored coats revamped for Spring. Opening in a very Helmut nature, the outfits were deemed both urban and modern, proving its functionality for the everyday person. Lang added some eye-catching touches like plush fur linings on overcoats, policeman-like holsters that curled around the shoulder on empire slips and beaded detailing that peeked out from the edge of liquid tops. Other highlights included sexy, off-kilter after-five dresses with only one sleeve and see-through tulle overlays.

This Faux Leopard Coat featured as look 54, simply darned with nude makeup, soft ponytails, and a simple pair of black sheer tights and knee-high suede boots. Chic, sensual, and perfectly cinched at the waist, this coat also featured Helmut’s signature high neck enclosure which allowed for a comfortable and elongated look. As a staple overcoat shape, the leopard pattern proves to be subtly beautiful, as a more delicately muted colour matched against black.
