For his AW 1999 collection, Séance de Travail, Helmut Lang formed a collection to dress the approaching new century. Inspired by astronaut uniforms, motorcycle safety gear, and rave subcultures, Lang created a deep-rooted, elegant, and stand out contemporary universe that has since then inspired a long list of designers.
The Astro Moto pieces were certainly the talking point of the collection and the presented here is no exception. These pants are constructed in a thick black denim with an added layer of resin coating used to give the trousers a unique finish, creating additional thickness on an already thick material. With a wide array of details, including the biker detail on the knees, ankle zips, back pocket zips and adjustable waist straps, this highlights a statement piece which still retains its relevance today.
