Helmut Lang, A/W 1997 Spiral Seam Velvet Skirt with Pockets

The spiral seam skirt is one of Helmut Lang’s most re-occurrent womenswear styles from the mid-90s, spanning from collections seen on the runway from 1995 - 1997. An extremely slim and streamlined shape made by running a diagonal seam starting on the upper left, running around the right and finishing on the front right centre. Finally, four darts create the shape of the waist pulling it snug to the wearer.

This iteration of the spiral skirt is constructed out of soft black velvet that catches the light beautifully, featuring the pattern spiral pattern with an added three utility pockets on the front. Added to the skirt while encapsulating the functionality and minimalism Helmut is most known for.
