For his A/W 2014 collection, Van Noten created a merge of both history and his story, using his attention to detail across the spread of the items pairing it with trailing laces and bondage straps, dyed fox scarves, pearls trimming high, frilled collars. These historical “Renaissance” details matched with “Rave” like aesthetic, showing jackets and pants that were enhanced by metal hardware, zippers, biker panelling, and athletic stripes.
This coat embodies the collection as a whole, constructed in felted wool made in Belgium. The coat features a shape inspired by a military liner, a double RiRi zip is seen placed on the right which conceals two pockets. Four enlarged buttons form the closure and two lower asymmetrical pockets also decorate the front of the coat. The coat is beautifully lined with a cross-stitched nylon to allow for improved comfort. Two pockets are also placed on the inside of either side. Finally, all the seams are finished with a contrasting nylon piping which breaks up the deep black colour nicely.
